Ice Breakers

One great ice breaker you can use to start your baby shower off right is a game called “Bag It”.

Bag It:

Have each of your guests place a brown paper bag over their heads. Then instruct them to remove one article of clothing/accessory from their body. Most of your guests will be timid and only remove an earring or a shoe. When they are done let them know that the one thing they could have removed was the paper bag. If anyone was that clever, they win. Have a prize ready for that smart guest.
Another great ice breaker for your baby shower is the “Destination Game”.

Destination Game:

What would you bring along with you when you are going to….? Choose a theme like “going to the delivery room” or “taking the baby to the park.” Have your guests sit in a circle and then take turns naming an item, but have them do so using a designated letter from the alphabet. So the first guest has to name something that starts with an A, the second guess must name something that starts with a B, etc…. You get the idea. As you move through the alphabet the game will get harder and harder. Your guests should come up with some pretty amusing answers.

Compose a list of questions and answers relating to taking care of a baby, childbirth, pregnancy, etc.. Have your guests try to figure out the answers. Whoever has the most correct answers wins. Your guests will find this game informative and fun.

Pin The Sperm On The Egg:

This game is a baby shower take on the children’s birthday party game, Pin the Tail On The Donkey. However, instead of a donkey draw a large egg to put up on the wall and instead of tails give your guests paper cut outs in the shape of sperm. Blindfold your guests and have them try to pin the sperm to the egg. Whoever wins can expect the next baby—like how catching a bride’s bouquet at a wedding makes the next bride. Won’t it be funny if grandma wins?

Never Say Baby:

Never say baby is a baby shower game classic. Upon arrival, give each of your guests a set of baby diaper pins and instruct them not to say the word baby for the duration of the party. Every time someone says the word baby the person who calls them on it gets one of their baby diaper pins. The person with the most pins at the end of the party wins.

Who’s Who Baby Picture Game:

Ask all of the guests to bring baby pictures of themselves and hang them on a bulletin board at the party. Have your guests try to guess who goes with each baby picture.
